Cattelan Italia

Giorgio Cattelan, the youngest of seven brothers and the son of a well known carpenter in the picturesque town of Thiene, located in the north-eastern part of Italy, was inspired at a young age by the family’s craftsman heritage. Giorgio and four of his brothers continue the tradition today that shaped their childhood and design consciousness.

The smell of the wood, the art of creating individual pieces of furniture, drove Giorgio to maintain theintegrity of his art with the ability to reach a larger audience.

And so Cattelan Italia was born in 1979. The firm was an almost immediate hit and exported widely, including into the US, Europe and the Far East.

Their original factory, built in 1982, has expanded severaltimes to its current dimensions of 33,000 square metres.

In 1989, to satisfy growing customer demand, the collection widened to include dining tables, chairs, bookshelves and other complementary furnishings, combining materials wood, glass, leather and metal.
